Election: NYSC urges Police to protect Corps members, expresses fear over fake kits

The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BASPHCDA) says it has commenced vaccination of the 2, 210, Batch ‘B’ stream of National Youth Service Corps members undergoing orientation in the state against meningitis.

BASPHCDA Executive Chairman, Mr Adamu Gamawa, said this on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Bauchi.

Gamawa said that the exercise was to prevent outbreak of cerebral meningitis among the corps members during their service year in the state.

“The agency, with the support of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), is conducting a two-day vaccination for the 2, 210 NYSC corps members undergoing their orientation in Wailo, Bauchi.

“Some of them came from other parts of the country where the weather conditions are not the same as ours.
“We have to vaccinate them against meningitis, because the dry season is fast approaching when the spread of the disease is usually high,” he said.

Our correspondent reports that the vaccination is scheduled for between Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, 2017.
