Ijesa monarch admonishes ex-service men on need to trust in God
The paramount ruler of Egboro land, HRM Oba (Engr) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye, Abikehin Ekun Agunsoye II, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa has called on the retired military personnels under the auspices of the Nigerian Legion to continually put their faith and trust in God.
The traditional ruler enjoined them to keep their focus on God even when help of men and that of government fail. He said it is only God that never fails promises.
Kabiyesi handed down this advise yesterday when members of the Nigerian Legion paid him a courtesy visit at the palace to commemorate this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day usually celebrated annually on January 15.
The group lamented neglect by the federal government for those of them alive and even the widows of their members who died in active service.
While encouraging the retired military men, the Enurin Agba Oye of Egboro land, High Chief J.B Olowe advised them to hold unto God and continue to contribute meaningfully to the society in terms of experience and security of lives and properties.
Thereafter, the Elegboro and the Enurin of Egboro land were decorated with the remembrance emblem as a mark of honour.
Afterwards, the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) offered the new year prayers as the Kabiyesi and his council of chiefs resume office for the year yesterday.
Prayers were offered by Pastor I.N Obalakin of Christ Apostolic Church, Reverend Gbenga Oyedokun of First Baptist Church and Bishop Emeritus Olowokure.
