Bauchi residents paid N144 per litre of petrol in April – NBS

Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Ibadan has warned petroleum marketers to dispense Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at N145 per litre or risk revocation of their operating licences.

Mr Sadiq Ibrahim, Head of Operations, DPR Ibadan Office, gave the warning  on Tuesday during a monitoring exercise. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) DPR on Tuesday sealed four filling stations on  Olomi-Olunde-Ayegun Road in Ibadan.

Among the stations are RBK Global Petroleum, Solace Global Resources Limited, Nurdock Energy Services Limited and DEENBAS International Limited. ‘‘Every filling station must sell PMS at N145 per litre. Government has not increased the price of the product and we won’t allow the marketers to fix prices arbitrarily.

‘‘We are here to enforce total compliance to the official pump price of N145. ‘‘We have sealed no fewer than 25 filling stations in Ibadan,’’ he said. Ibrahim said that sealed filling stations could only be unsealed after payment of fine by the operator.

‘‘Notorious filling stations will be suspended from operating for between three to six months and can have their operating licences revoked. We have the power to do that, ’’ he said. He said a  DPR team, which was expected to carry out the same operation in Oyo town,  could not do so as a result of an impending protest.

The DPR boss stated that students of tertiary institutions in Oyo town and commercial motorcyclists had threatened to dispense fuel at  N145 per litre at the various filling stations.
