A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced a 21-year-old conductor, Ahmed Abdullahi, to six months imprisonment for house-breaking and theft.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others.

Abdullahi, who resides at Daki-biu village, Abuja, was convicted on a two-count charge.

The convict, who pleaded guilty to the offence, urged the court to temper justice with mercy.

The prosecutor, Zannan Dalhatu, had told the court that one Aisha Adams of same address with the convict reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on March 6.

He said that on March 5, the convict broke into her room and stole her Infinix hot 8 cell phone, valued at N35, 000, Gionee Titi cell phone, valued at N25, 000 and Techno cell phone, valued at N4, 000.

During police investigation, he confessed to the crime, that he sold it to someone who is now at large, all efforts made to recover the phone proved abortive.

The offences contravened the provisions of Sections 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.
