Court remands man over alleged armed robbery

An FCT High Court, Apo, on Monday remanded a 29-year old man, Aminu Momoh, in Kuje Prison for alleged armed robbery and illegal possession of dangerous weapons.

Justice Sylvester Oriji, ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case until March 15, for hearing.

The accused was docked on charges bordering on armed robbery and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ochigbo Ochayi, told the court that the offences were committed on July 9, 2017.

He said the accused, at gun point, attacked and robbed Mr Gybosumen Benard and his wife at No. 52, Mbano Road, Federal Housing, Kubwa.

Ochayi said that the accused stole a Toyota Corolla car, handset, Samsung tablet and N180, 000.

The offences contravened Section 1 sub (1)(2) and (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act 2004.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
