NRC boss tasks management on inter-departmental synergy
Mr Fidet Okhiria, Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), on Wednesday advocated for interdepartmental synergy that would bring about prompt responses on official matters in 2018.
Okhiria said this in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the corporation, Yakub Mahmood, in Abuja at the end of the maiden edition of Railway retreat held in Agbor.
He said the retreat was meant to encourage team work in the evaluation for 2017 key performance and at the same time fashion out strategic master plan that would guide the operations of the corporation in 2018.
“I tasked the management to build more interdepartmental synergy that is devoid of bottlenecks, which hinders prompt response to official matters, resulting in blame game syndrome as against the prompt transparent collective responsibility principles.
“The 2018 Strategic Direction for the corporation include; Improving on rolling stock availability, inculcating staff discipline, support and encourage contractors on the completion of all the ongoing railway modernisation projects.
“Compliance to these is imperative for optimal operational and administrative productivity.
“The retreat enables the participants to brainstorm and equally inspect the rehabilitation of the abandoned Itakpe-Ajaokuta/Warri Standard Gauge Rail Line, preparatory to its commission soon,” he said.
Okhiria, however, commended the management and the entire staff of the NRC, for their resilience and hard work, despite some shortcomings which the management was proffering solution too.
