Zamfara Govt. increases corps members’ allowance
Zamfara State government has increased the monthly allowances of corps members who are serving with the State ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
The state Governor, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari Yari announced the upward review of the allowances on Monday in Tsafe at the swearing-in ceremony of 1,731 2018 batch A, stream one of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state.
He said that the monthly allowances had been increased from N3, 000 to N5, 000 each and corps members with paramedical courses which were also collecting N3, 000 monthly, would henceforth be receiving N20, 000 each.
He added that medical doctors who were also receiving N3, 000 as their monthly allowance has been increased to N50, 000 each.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner, Youth, Sports and Skills Acquisition, Mr Abdullahi Mohammed, said that the effort was to encourage the corps members’ performance in discharging their duties.
He said the NYSC has undergone rapid transformation over the years through the introduction of programmes that are relevant to national issues.
According to him, the newly introduced skills acquisition training in the orientation curricula, targeting rural areas in posting policy and other vital sectors of economy had brought much progress to the nation building.
Yari, however, assured adequate security to safeguard the lives and property of all the corps members serving in the state.
Speaking earlier, the state Coordinator of NYSC Hajiya Walida Isa advised the corps members not to entertain fear, adding that the state has been in a peaceful and calm situation.
She also welcomed the 1,731 corps members deployed to the state.
According to her, many had served in the state successfully, so I want to assured you that you will also have very interesting orientation course and service year.
She expressed appreciation to the Zamfara state government for the support and cooperation given to the scheme in all its operations.
