NSE market capitalisation down by N17bn on Total, Dangote Cement loss
Total Nigeria and Dangote Cement on Wednesday topped the price losers’ table on Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), dropping N11.20 and N3 per share, respectively.
Our correspondent reports that Total lost N11.20 to close at N222. 60, while Dangote Cement dipped by N3 to close at N249 per share.
FBN Holdings was down by N1.20 to close at N12.20, while Lafarge Africa lost 85k to close at N42.40 per share.
Oando depreciated by 45k to close at N8.70 per share.
Consequently, the market capitalisation shed N17 billion or 0.11 per cent to close at N14.721 trillion against N14. 738 trillion on Tuesday.
In the same vein, the All-Share Index, which opened at 40,802.78, lost 47.05 points or 0.11 per cent to close at 40,755.73.
On the other hand, Nestle led the price gainers’ table, growing by N74.60 to close at N1,568.20 per share.
Seplat followed with a gain of N27.90 to close at N765, while Forte Oil gained N4.40 to close at N47.70 per share.
Presco appreciated by N3.30 to close at N69.30, while GlaxosmithKline added 70k to close at N24 per share.
The banking stocks were the most active with FBN Holdings emerging the toast of investors with 80.09 million shares worth N1.01 billion.
UBA came second with 60.01 million shares valued at N684.50, while Fidelity Bank sold 40.55 million shares worth N101.94 million.
Access Bank exchanged 32.46 million shares valued at N366.80 million, while Flour Mills sold 15.98 million shares worth N538.21 million.
In all, the volume of shares traded rose by 42. 34 per cent as investors exchanged 350.98 million shares valued at 4.60 billion in 5,020 deals.
This was in contrast to the 246.58 million shares worth N3.22 billion traded in 4,918 deals on Tuesday.
