PTAD adds 717 pensioners to payroll
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has added 717 verified pensioners to its payroll.
The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Sharon Ikeazor, said this in a statement released in Enugu on Tuesday.
Ikeazor said a total of 639 Federal Housing Authority (FHA) and 78 Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA (Civilian) pensioners had been added to the PTAD payroll and paid their April 2018 pensions.
“639 Federal Housing Authority (FHA) pensioners were paid a total of N11.9 million; while 78 NDA (Civilian) pensioners were paid a total of N1.9 million.
“This new batch of enrollees was verified by the Directorate during a validation exercise which was held across the six geopolitical zones in the fourth quarter of 2017.
“This is towards sustaining a comprehensive and credible database of pensioners domiciled at the directorate,” she said.
Our correspondent reports that Ikeazor had assured pensioners that their entitlements would be computed while approval is being sought to clear all arrears for pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
The Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD) started the verification of defunct and privatised agencies in the fourth quarter of 2017, with the verification of FHA, New Nigerian Newspapers, NICON, Nigerian-Re and Delta Steel Company pensioners.
In first quarter of 2018, pensioners from the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) and its subsidiary, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTEL) were verified and the computation of their benefits is ongoing.
