Cele pastor in police net for killing woman with deadly dose of concoction

The police in Lagos said they have arrested a 34-year-old Celestial Church pastor for allegedly giving a deadly concoction to one Ramat Audu which eventually resulted in her death.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, told newsmen on Monday that the pastor was arrested with the deceased’s boyfriend who took her to the church at Akesan, Igando, Lagos.

“When Ramat Audu fell ill, her boyfriend took her to Celestial Church at Ajangbadi where the pastor allegedly administered honey, lime and other concoctions into the woman.

“Consequently, the lady died on May 17 at 2pm. Based on the development, the DPO at Ilemba Hausa, CSP Musa Anim, led a team of detectives to the scene and arrested the pastor and the deceased’s boyfriend.

“The corpse was photographed and the following items were recovered from the church: A native sponge, perfume and candle sticks.

“The corpse was later taken to Igando General Hospital for postmortem.

“Suspects will be handed over to the Homicide Section of the SCIID, Panti, Yaba for further investigation,” the police commissioner said.

Two other suspects were paraded for attempted robbery on Uber driver at Itowolo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

NAN gathered that the suspects were caught with a toy pistol while attempting to snatch a Toyota Corolla car, with registration No KJA 911 EG, property of one Mr Otun Olugbenga, near Itowolo bridge.

The CP said that the hoodlums boarded the vehicle from Surulere, enroute Agric and on getting near Itowolo bridge, one of the suspects, armed with a toy pistol, grabbed the driver by the neck.

“The driver lost control of the car and the vehicle somersaulted. The driver raised alarm which attracted policemen to the scene.

“They chased the robbers, arrested them and the vehicle was recovered.

“Both men would be charged for armed robbery as soon as investigation into the case is over,” Imohimi said.
