Man docked over alleged attempt to steal 15 chickens

The police on Tuesday docked one Ibrahim Musa in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for allegedly attempting to steal 15 chickens.

Musa, who resides at Apo area of Abuja, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that one Haruna Bulya of Utako Ultra Modern Market, Abuja reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on July 13.

Ukagha said the complainant reported that the accused, on the said date about 1p.m, asked that 15 chickens worth N18, 750 be sold to him.

She said that the accused attempted to escape with the chicken without payment but was arrested in the process.

Musa, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Ukahga said the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N25, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Maiwada adjourned the case until July 24 for hearing.
