NSCDC trains 638 operatives on criminal investigation, prosecution
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State on Tuesday said the command had trained 638 operatives on criminal investigation and prosecution.
The Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Muhammad Mahmoud-Fari, made this known on Tuesday at the training session for officers in Lafia.
Mahmoud-Fari said that the exercise was done in collaboration with the state Ministry of Justice to equip officers and men with the requisite knowledge for effective prosecution of suspects.
He said that the NSCDC was mandated by its 2007 Act to arrest, detain, investigate and institute legal proceeding against suspects.
“An officer cannot institute legal proceeding against a suspect when he is completely ignorant of the law and the procedures, hence, the need for the training,” Mahmoud-Fari.
He said that the ongoing training was for 218 middle class officers drawn from the state headquarters and all areas commands of the NSCDC in the state.
Mahmoud-Fari said that 420 personnel from levels 8 downward were trained in February for effective prosecution of criminal cases.
The commandant also said that the command recently concluded a three-day seminar for 42 senior officers from the ranks of Assistant and Deputy Commandants of the corps on administrative management skills and security strategies.
He said that going by wealth of experience of the resource persons in the areas of investigation, operations and security strategies, the command would improve on the security architecture of the state.
