Three die, four injured in Ogun auto crash

Three persons were confirmed dead, while four others sustained injuries in an accident involving a Toyota Corolla car and a Micra taxi at Baagban Area on old Abeokuta /Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, Public Relations Officer, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi said that the accident was caused because of the overtaking of the Toyota Corolla, with no registration number.

“Seven persons were involved in the accident, and three persons died.

“Five males, two females were involved in the accident, one female and two males all in the Micra taxi including the driver died.

“I learnt the Toyota Corolla car was heading towards Ibadan from Abeokuta, while the Micra taxi with registration number GBE 481 XA, was coming from Ibadan and heading towards Abeokuta when the accident happened,” he said.

The TRACE spokesperson said that the corpses were deposited at General hospital, Odeda, while the injured were taken to General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.

“The Micra car is at Odeda Police Station, while the driver of the Corolla car ran away,” he said.
