Ugwuanyi reiterates commitment to rural development

Ugwuanyi directs immediate resettlement of victims of rainstorm

Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Wednesday reiterated his administration’s commitment on community development to ensure effective improvement in the lives and economy of the rural people.

Ugwuanyi gave the assurance during a solidarity visit to the Government House by the people of Obodo Uvuru Autonomous Community in Akpawfu town in Nkanu East Council Area led by their traditional ruler, Mr Dume Nnamoko.

According to him, the welfare of the people is the greatest project of every government.

“I want to assure that the state government will tackle the road challenges in the rural communities in the state.

Ugwuanyi expressed regrett that some politicians made false promises to the electorate which they did fulfil.

The governor said that with the cooperation of all the people, his administration would provide them with the needed democracy dividends.

Earlier, Nnamoko said that the people converged at the Government House to join in celebrating the achievements of the governor since he assumed office, noting that he deserved a second term.

The traditional ruler, however, pleaded with the governor to tar the road from Akpawfu-Amagunze Road to Akpawfu community.

“We, the good people of Akpawfu Town, humbly felicitate with His Excellency as the litany of your achievements stand tall in the political history of Enugu State and Nigeria at large.

“Your administration has brought hope to the hopeless, justice to the downtrodden and restored people’s confidence in governance.’’

According to him, Ugwuanyi has shown that “when the righteous is in power, the masses rejoice”.

Nnamoko said that Akpawfu people were solidly behind his government.
