Some Snapchat users on Friday said they preferred the platform because of its special features that makes it more interesting, interactive and attractive.

Our correspondent reports that Snapchat statistics for 2017 show that there are 173 million daily users worldwide, including three billion contents such as pictures, videos and text sent every day.

Since Sept. 16, 2011, when Snapchat was launched, the statistics have continued to increase annually.

Snapchat is a multimedia messaging app used globally and one of the principal concepts is that its pictures and messages are only available for a short time before they become inaccessible.

Mr Prince Ofuegbu, a Snapchat user and video producer told our correspondent that Snapchat was a means for him to share videos of his professional job on the platform.

“Snapchat has been of great benefit to me because I attract a lot of followers through these videos,’’ he said.

He said that social media appealed to the sub consciousness of people, making them want to view postings or messages, especially when such messages were relevant to them.

“One of the reasons I love to use Snapchat is because of the features. When you get bored, Snapchat has a way of switching things up through its filters and other unique features such as `emoji’ and bitmoji’, which is not available in other platforms.

Emoji are ideograms and smiley used in electronic messages and web pages, while bitmoji is an individual’s personal emoji.

“Snapchat also gives the platform to follow celebrities to enable you see their lifestyle and you feel like you are part of their lives,’’ he said.

Miss Joy Obanya, another frequent Snapchat user said she uses the app to showcase her business, adding that she loved it because of emoji and bitmoji.

“I feel most people use it because the filters make the pictures and videos look cuter and more beautiful,’’ she said.
