Ogun 2019: Huge support declared for Dapo Abiodun
As the race for who succeed Governor Ibikunle Amosun garthered momentum, leaders of a notable political group in Ogun State, Obafemi Owode Local Government Chapter of the APC Ogun De Democrats have on Thursday, declared their total support for an All Progressives Congress, APC gubernatorial aspirant, Prince Dr Dapo Oluwaseun Abiodun.
The declaration of support for the gubernatorial aspirant was made during a leaders meeting held at Abeokuta on Thursday. According to the Leaders, the guber aspirant who hails from Iperu Remo of the Ogun East Senatorial District of the State, an oil magnate and current Chairman, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Prince Dapo Abiodun remains the only most qualified and capable aspirant in terms of ability to transform and coordinate the State affairs effectively and efficiently to achieving better economic system, improve agricultural value, rebranding the State educational system, engagement and employment of the youth, staff welfare, improve social amenities, standard electrification and growing the State revenue.
Appreciable number of leaders of the political group were drawn from the twelve wards of the Local Government for delegacy. While addressing the group representatives at the gathering, a three-time Chairman of the Local Government, Engnr Babatunde Akeem Adesina appreciates the leaders for imbibing the spirit of wholeness by adopting Prince Dapo Abiodun as the most qualified and capable aspirant to transform the state to a better one.
Engnr Adesina who also appealed to the incumbent Governor Amosun to give room for true internal democracy in the forthcoming Party primaries said, “for everyone to be involved without any fear of discrimination whatsoever, we are appealing to the people’s Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to humbly allow true democracy to take its cause in the coming Party’s primaries by adopting a democratic approach system and demonstrates a leadership style of sense of belonging to all and sundry.”
Speaking during the leaders meting, a former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, who also hails from Ajebo Ward of the Local Government, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, believes the fight of who becomes a State Governor in any democratic era should not be based on appointment but elections of due process and or procedure. “Every aspirant who has shown intention to contest should be given an equal opportunity to know his/her electioneering strength and the party members also deserve to chose who will represent them at the general election. However, this can be done only by respecting the leadership and the highest authority of our Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC through the adoption of the Party’s direct primaries.
Again, we are not ashamed to make known the one who we have decided to support for the governorship position during and after his emergence from the Party’s primaries, Prince Dr Dapo Oluwaseun Abiodun in whom we believe has possessed the cogent and indispensable elements needed to govern a State like ours and together, we have agreed in oneness to support him to the top. May God in this regard, assist us and crown our collective efforts and making it a reality”, said Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun.
