Canada to host The Commonwealth Africa Forum in July 2018

The Canadian Prime Minister, Mr Justin Trudeau, has congratulated the Ukrainian community in Canada over the country’s 27th Independence Anniversary.  “Today, we join the Ukrainian community in Canada and around the world to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence’’, the statement said.

“Canada was the first western country to recognize Ukraine’s independence, and today, our countries are united by a strong relationship. During my official visit to Ukraine in 2016, I oversaw the signing of the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, a historic moment in the friendship between our two countries’’.

‘Canada will also host the Ukraine Reform Conference in 2019 to bring together foreign ministers from the European Union, the G7, and NATO countries to support Ukraine in ongoing democratic and economic reforms’.

“Today, Canada and Ukraine share common values, a commitment to democracy, freedom, and the rule of law, and close people-to-people ties. Over one million Canadians of Ukrainian descent live in Canada and contribute to our country every day.

“Canada continues to stand with the people of Ukraine in efforts to protect and preserve their sovereignty. We fully support the Ukrainian government’s efforts to build a more secure, more prosperous future for people across the country. On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I wish everyone celebrating a happy Independence Day’.
