"I lured her with N10 sweet"’, rape suspect says

A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday remanded a 25-year-old man, Azeez Isiaka, who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, ordered that Isiaka should be kept in the Ikoyi Prison pending advice of the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the case.

The accused, who resides at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, is facing a count charge of unlawful carnal knowledge.

Earlier, the police Prosecutor, Anthonia Osayande, submitted that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 10 at Ide Village, Ibeju Lekki.

Osayande said that the accused lured the girl to an uncompleted building and had carnal knowledge of her.

Our correspondent reports that rape contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The case has been adjourned until Sept. 29 for the DPP’s advice.
