Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State has solicited the support of Nigerians for his candidature for presidency in 2019 general elections, promising inclusive government, improved economy, security and technology.

In a statement issued by Mr Ayoade Adewopo, Dakwambo’s aide on communication, the governor said that he would contest on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dankwambo said that he had experience, as former Accountant-General of the Federation, to find short and long term solutions to some of the challenges the country was facing, noting that the approach would stimulate economic recovery.

“I will lead people to a new Nigeria where we shall harness our abundant resources, build a robust economy and partner with good people and well-meaning investors from nations across the world.

“That will open the door for independent and economically self-sufficient Nigeria that will transparently eradicate corruption, insurgency, armed robbery and kidnapping, among others,’’ he said.

“Having interacted very well with Nigerians beyond primordial divides, I will engage a policy that has respect for individual liberty and the rule of law.

“I, therefore, call for partnership with Nigerians for the realisation of my long sustained vision for more unified, developed and peaceful country,’’ Dankwambo said.

Dankwambo said that he had also started reaching out to party members across the nation by meeting politicians in some states before the primary election of PDP on Oct. 5 to pick a presidential candidate for the general elections in 2019.
