Independence Day: Mark urges Nigerians to keep faith with Nigeria project

Sen. David Mark, a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Nigerians to keep faith with Nigeria project, saying there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Mark made the call in a goodwill message to mark the country’s 58th Independence Anniversary on Monday, in Abuja.

According to him, the current socio-economic and political challenges will bring out the best in Nigerians to salvage the situation.

The lawmaker, who is former President of the Senate, stressed that there are “useful lessons to guide Nigerians” from a number of ethno-religious conflicts in the past apart from the civil war.

“We have encountered so many challenges in our journey to nationhood. No doubt, it has been a torturous one. However, we must not give in to such challenges.

“All we need to do is to properly harness our human and material resources for the benefit of all citizens.”

On the 2019 general elections, Sen.Mark urged political office seekers and their supporters to adhere to the rules and regulations that guide the electoral process, stressing that the preservation and survival of the country are paramount.

The presidential aspirant further emphasised that Nigeria’s unity must be sacrosanct, considering that the country is a project under God.

“It is my wish to be President of a united and indivisible Nigeria, where every citizen has equal rights and opportunities to pursue his or her legitimate ambition unhindered.

“I believe that the future is bright because the dark days will soon be over,” he said.
