The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, oyo state chapter has strongly condemned the no work, no pay threat by the Federal Government. According to the chairman of the industrial union in Oyo State, Comrade Balogun Babatunde, the pronouncement is a mere water threat to stop the workers from embarking on its planned nationwide strike action on the new minimum wage regime.

”No government can stop the people from demanding what is rightfully ours. We have historically use this methodology to demand what is rightfully ours from any government; even under military regimes. The minimum wage issue is a constitutional matter and the refusal of government to accede to the demands of the workers shows their interest is not for the general public good of Nigerians”, Balogun said in a statement made available to NewsVerge.

”We have patiently tolerated all the blood sucking initiatives and programs of this government to the extent that our monthly salaries cannot even cater for members our for a week; a situation that has subjected our members to financial embarrassment and suffering”, he add

He pointed out that the union expects ”the angelic tainted president Muhammad Buhari government to reward Nigerian workers and masses patience of 3 and half years suffering with speedy approval, passage and implementation of our proposed N30,000 minimum wage agreed earlier in the month by the tripartite committee”.

”The federal government’s no work,no pay order is a mere paper tigerist escape root that will not hold water as we have set out plans to declare operation total paralysis in all government establishments in Nigeria from 6th November, 2018 until government accede to our demand of the approval of the N30,000 new minimum wage regime”.
