2019: Sulu-Gambari sues for unity, peace among subjects
The Emir of llorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has urged residents of the state to eschew bitterness, allow peace and unity to reign before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
The monarch made the plea at his palace in llorin on Wednesday when he received the National Executive Council of llorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (lEDPU), led by its national president, Amb. Sheikh AbdulAzeez during a courtesy visit.
The traditional ruler in his remarks described peace and unity as the cornerstone of any meaningful development and urged people of the state to embrace such as the elections period drew closer.
The royal father, who is also chairman of the state traditional rulers’ council stressed that no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos and acrimony.
He gave the assurance to non-indigenous residents of the state on their safety before, during and after the polls, stating that they should go about their legitimate businesses without fear.
“The state will continue to be state of harmony which accommodates all ethnic groups,’’ he said.
Sulu-Gambari lauded the lEDPU on its efforts towards ensuring violence-free elections in the state and urged the union to sustain it so that the state would continue to record more progress in all spheres of life.
The National President had earlier congratulated the Emir on his 23 years anniversary of ascension to the throne.
He prayed God to allow the monarch witness more years with sound health and wisdom for more development to be attained in llorin Emirate and the state as whole.
AbdulAzeez assured the royal father that the lEDPU would continue to make necessary consultations with well-meaning individuals in the state to ensure trouble-free general elections in 2019.
It was reported that the leadership of the lEDPU visited the Emir to felicitate with him on his 23 years coronation on the throne.
