Egba Heritage Canada: The President’s Manifesto, Program

Fellow Heritagians, it has been a good take off for our great association since inception, despite various odds encountered, but we still pulled through to sustain the existence of this great association, we marked our first anniversary and established a great presence in various local and international activities, I owe a great and many thanks to Mr Ayodele Sanni, the first President of this our great association, for his patience and leadership strategies.

Importantly, the great members of this association have played major roles in keeping this association together, many thanks to the elders and women of wisdom in steering us through the storm. If elected, I would continue to thread on the part of unity. In view of the aforementioned, the spirit of unity and healthy co-existence would form the major task to be embarked upon by this administration under my Presidency, if elected.

Peaceful co-existence would be a major change to membership retention that is under threat, membership drive that would broaden our base and increase our financial strength through various membership dues. I am also going to bring up to the house, the establishment of our youth wing, to gradually integrate our kids to becoming our flag bearers in the future.

Furthermore, this administration is going to tackle frequent friction among the executive members through a prior to general meetings, a constantly scheduled Exco meeting, this will address the lengthy time we spend at many of our general meetings, this would also afford us the opportunity to progressively discuss value added matters that would showcase our positive impact in our immediate environment and Egba Land, through charity activities, lectures, awareness programmes in health /social activities to promote Egba culture such as Lisabi day, great volunteering activities and projects that matter to our rural dwellers in suburb Egba that are cost effective.

In addition, this administration is going to encourage and embrace to the highest realm, spirit of discipline, welfarisim of our members, positive social culture, financial accountability without breaking the rules, consensus and concerted public relational strategies through bringing to reality, a live website within 2 months of this administration take off, these are achievable through a participatory leadership, unbiased, and effective secretariat with the involvement of all the members.

Moreover, the importance of the dues we contribute to this association is very important, I am going to lead by example, through prompt payment of relevant dues and levies, this would also be the cooperative guiding principle of all executive members to encourage other members to prompt payment of relevant dues, these dues are enormous to recognize the fact that this administration under my leadership would take the immediate step to contact the CRA and find out ways to making it a possibility for our members to obtain yearly tax receipts to file their tax returns.

Finally, the administration is going to reconstitute or establish new committees for effectiveness, the constitution committee, for speedy continuation and conclusion of the legal document of this association and the Charity committee for great ideas, subject to the approval of the whole house. I am going to embrace transparency, we are all going to get involved in the general policy decision of this great association if you give me the opportunity to lead this our great association.
