Nasarawa Govt. reassures community of actualising chiefdom request
The Nasarawa State government has reassured Anzo community of Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of the State of its own chiefdom after all due processes has been concluded.
Mr Silas Agara, Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, gave the reassurance to a delegation of the community, who paid him a courtesy visit, to remind the state government of their request for a chiefdom, in Lafia on Friday.
The Anzo Community in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area, is made up of two districts and six villages.
Agara commended the delegation for the visit and reassured them of the state government’s commitment to creating the chiefdom through accelerated processing of their requests.
He, however, informed the delegation that the request would be subjected to public scrutiny and stakeholders evaluation, to give it public acceptability.
“The Anzo chiefdom is one request that this government has been looking into since you made your case in 2016. The administration of Gov. Umaru Al-Makura, is one government poised to emancipating the people of Nasarawa State.
“Nasarawa State is one state that has a lot of ethnic groups. So whatever we are doing is to ensure that we give every group their due rights and recognition. So we are getting input from stakeholders, who have one or two things to advise on the creation of the Anzo chiefdom,” he said.
He commended the Anzo people for their peaceful disposition and support for the Gov. Al-Makura’s administration, restating the state government’s commitment to equitable distribution of resources.
According to him, equitable distribution of resources to all communities would enable the people feel the impact of government in their respective localities.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Umar Yaka, who is also the district head of Alogani in Anzo community, had explained that their visit apart from showing solidarity with the current administration was to remind the state government of their request for a chiefdom in Anzo community.
He said the need for the chiefdom had become imperative as the community had not been captured in any of the ones created so far out of Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area.
