NYSC mobilises 4, 364 corps members as INEC ad-hoc staff in Bayelsa
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bayelsa, said it had mobilised 4, 364 corps members as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad-hoc staff for the conduct of the forthcoming elections.
Our correspondent reports that the exercise, which starts from Feb. 16 includes the Presidential and National Assembly election and the state Houses of Assembly poll.
Mr Mathew Ngobua, the NYSC spokesman in the state, told our correspondent in a telephone interview on Monday in Yenagoa, that the names of the corps members had been forwarded to INEC.
Recall that Mrs Omolayo Loto, the NYSC Coordinator in the state had on Jan. 24, said in a statement issued to journalists that corps members had been enjoined to shun all enticements from desperate politicians.
“We have carefully compiled and forwarded to INEC the list of corps members according to Local Government Areas of Bayelsa.
“We have also sensitised the corps members on the importance of this national assignment.
“I urge the corps members to stay away from all forms of electoral offences, as the law is not a respecter of any person.
“I have directed the Zonal and Local Government Inspectors as well as Group CDS Schedule Officers to brief the corps members under their watch about the national call.
“I believe this will add value to the conduct of free, fair and credible elections in the state,” Loto said.
