Elections: Nigeria’s democracy is growing, says DG SMEDAN
The Director-General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dr Dikko Umar Radda, has said that the ongoing peaceful general elections indicate that the country’s democracy is growing.
Radda stated this on Saturday in Radda, Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State after casting his vote at Katika polling unit.
“This is one of the best elections ever conducted in this country.
“Even though there are some hiccups here and there in some states, one can say that it is a peaceful election.
“We have already made progress, we are now looking for a day where people can vote from their houses or in diaspora,” he said.
He commended Nigerians for conducting themselves peacefully during the elections.
“As you can see, in some polling units, there are no security personnel, but people are voting in a peaceful manner without any problem,” he said.
Radda also commended INEC for introducing accreditation and voting simultaneously, saying this made the process smooth.
He said that the country’s leadership also deserved commendation for interfering in election matters, and allowing the people to elect leaders of their choice.
