Maku commends voters for peaceful conduct, urges INEC, Security to be neutral
Labaran Maku, Nasarawa State Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has commended the electorate for conducting themselves peacefully during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.
Maku gave the commendation on Saturday at Wakama Clinic Polling Unit of Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area after casting his vote at 12:06 p.m.
“So far in this area, the process has been peaceful and there is no reported malfunction of card readers as at 12 p.m.
“So, I pray that the process would be peaceful across the state,” Maku added.
He, however, called for the arrest and prosecution of any staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who compromised the process.
“If there is over voting in any polling unit, the INEC staff presiding over the election in such unit should be arrested and prosecuted.
“No voter is supposed to be allowed to vote if the card reader does not recognise his card and a voter cannot vote on his own, so the INEC staff in areas that recorded over voting should be held responsible,” Maku added.
He also called on INEC and security agencies to be neutral and to avoid any act that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
Maku alleged that there were reports of massive thump printing of ballot papers by the agents of a political party in the state.
He, therefore, called on the security agencies to investigate the allegation with a view of arresting the culprits.
