NYSC DG cautions corps members against unnecessary travels, nightlife
Maj. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, the Director General (DG), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has cautioned corps members against unnecessary travels and nightlife.
Kazaure gave the advice when he visited the 2019 Batch “A” corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Mangu, Plateau State, on Tuesday.
The DG, who was represented by Mr Abdulrasak Salawu, the Director for Humans Resource Management, said that corps members, who must travel, should obtain permission before doing so.
He said that the advice became necessary because nightlife had become dangerous in most parts of the country.
The DG also admonished them to be wary of the company they keep, and urged them to imbibe positive cultural values from their host communities.
He counseled them to respect the norms and cultures of the host communities, and be ready to render assistance whenever they were required to do so.
Kazaure advised corps members to participate actively in camp activities, especially the skills acquisition programmes, adding that the skills acquired might proved useful after the service year.
Earlier, Mr Abdulsalam Alhassan, the Plateau State coordinator of the NYSC, had thanked the DG for the visit, and assured him of the safety of the corps members. “The camp is safe. It has been secured by armed guards,” he said.
