The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy and sunny weather conditions with localised thunderstorms over most parts of the country on Thursday.

In its daily “Weather Outlook’’ released on Wednesday in Abuja, the agency predicted that partly cloudy-to-cloudy conditions were likely over the central states with chances of localised thunderstorms over Southern Abuja, Lokoja and Makurdi during the morning hours.

It also predicted localised thunderstorm over Jos, Abuja Minna, Mambilla plateau and Lafia and partly cloudy to cloudy conditions during the afternoon and evening with day and night temperatures of 29 to 40 and 19 to 29 degrees Celsius.

The agency predicted that Northern states would experience partly cloudy-to-sunny conditions with day and night temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius and 24 to 27 degrees Celsius.

According to NiMet, Southern states will experience cloudy morning with scattered thunderstorms over the inland later in the day.

“There are prospects of scattered thunderstorm activities over the coastal cities during the afternoon and evening period with day and night temperatures of 32 to 36 and 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

“The influx of moisture into the country is consistent and so there are chances of thunderstorm activities in the country within the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
