NYCN lauds Bagudu on Minimum Wage
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended Gov. Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi state for implementing the new minimum wage for workers in the state.
A statement signed by the NYCN President, Mr Bello Shagari in Sokoto on Friday commended the governor for taking the bold step.
According to Shagari, the implementation of the minimum wage will no doubt improve the living standard of workers in the state.
“The governor has done justice by implementing the minimum wage.
“There is no doubt that the old minimum wage is no longer realistic considering high cost of goods and services in the country.
“Moreover, the gesture will boost the morale of workers towards helping to implement government’s laudable programmes,” he said.
He further commended the governor’s commitment in prioritising the education of youths in the state.
“We also want to commend the release of scholarship to Secondary School Students in an attempt to uplift their standard.
“We feel that these are necessary steps in empowering young people and making sure that they are well nurtured and saved from tendencies of becoming victims of streets, communal crimes and other social vices,” he said.
He added that Bagudu has become a pace setter, while encouraging other governors to emulate his decisiveness and commitment to duty.
