Court remands man, 20, for robbery
A 20-year-old man, Sunday Abu, who allegedly robbed with knife and cutlasses, was on Wednesday remanded in a correctional centre by a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
Abu, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge of armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in the correctional centre.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until March 16 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP. Akpan Nkem, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 12, 2019 at about 9.00p.m at Ayabot Hotel, Ikoga Road, Badagry.
Nkem said that the defendant armed with one knife and two cutlasses stole one Techno Phone valued at N48,000, one wristwatch valued at N7,500, small techno phone worths N3,500 and ATM card with N5,600.
According to the prosecutor, the total value of the stolen items and money was valued at N64,600, property of Kehinde Matthew.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 296 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
