Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri has described the death of a second republic senator, Paul Wampana, as a great loss to Adamawa and Nigeria.

It was reported that Wampana, who was also the Minister of State for Public Health under the Shehu Shagari administration in 1983, died on Sunday at his Abuja residence.

Reacting to his death, Fintiri in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou on Monday in Yola, condoled with the family of the late Wampana.

“The state is deeply saddened by the loss of a man with a strong political and moral voice who has played a great role in the development of the Peoples Democratic Party and the nation at large.”

‘I have lost a friend and a mentor. He was one of Adamawa’s finest and a hero.

“Compelled by his unshakeable faith and deep love of country, Late Wampana dedicated his life to defending both Adamawa and the Adamawa project, fighting tirelessly to ensure that the state remained a land of justice, freedom and hope,” Fintiri said.

Fintiri also commiserated with Vimtim community and the Mubi Emirate council over the loss.

He prayed God to grant the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss.
