Matawalle commiserates with Tudun Wada market fire victims
Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has commiserated with victims of Sunday inferno that gutted the Tudun Wada Market in Gusau.
Matawalle expressed his concern when he visited the market that was allegedly engulfed by fire on Sunday night from a frozen fish shop, due to electrical fault.
This is contained in a statement issued on behalf of the governor by Mr Yusuf Idris, the Director-General of Media to the governor, to newsmen in Gusau on Monday.
The governor called on the victims to consider the accident as an act of Allah.
Matawalle advised that they should always check on their electrical appliances before leaving their shops at the end of the day’s business.
He promised to reconstruct the 63 shops that were affected by the fire and directed the Sole Administrator of Gusau Local Government Area to start work immediately.
The governor also constituted a committee under a renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Kanoma, to ascertain the losses of the traders and submit report within the next seven days.
He said the report would enable the state government to assist the victims to return to their respective businesses.
He said his government would continue to support traders for the economic prosperity of the state.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the United Traders Association, Alhaji Balan Vice, said the fire started around 4 a.m of Sunday.
He told the governor that the fire was stopped from further spread with the help of the fire service.
He thanked Matawalle for his concern, noting that the support and attention the traders were receiving from the governor were immeasurable.
The governor was accompanied by the Speaker, Zamfara House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya; Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bala Maru; and Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe.
Others include the Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Dr Bashir Maru; Commissioners for Information and Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara and Dr Nura Isah, respectively.
The sole administrators of Gusau and Maru Local Government Areas, Mesrrs Sanusi Sarki and Salisu Dangulbi, respectively, Permanent Secretaries and Senior government officials were part of the governor’s entourage.
