2018/2019 admissions: LASU to extend deadline for registration

Prof Oyedamola Oke, Acting Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo, has urged matriculating students to produce sterling performance in their academic pursuit.

Oke, who was represented by Prof. Tunde Owolabi, Dean, Faculty of Education, said this at the Orientation and Matriculation ceremony for the institution’s sandwich students for the 2020 modular year on Friday in Lagos.

It was reported that over 1000 students took the matriculation oath at the ceremony.

According to him, graduates of the institution’s sandwich programme have distinguished themselves both at home and in the diaspora, with some of them being absorbed as lecturers by the university.

“The sandwich degree programme of the university is not in any way inferior to the regular programme.

“We make available to the programme, the same learning environment and lecturers as the regular programmes.

“Therefore, the university awards the same degree to students on sandwich programme as it is to regular programmes,” Oke said.

The acting vice-chancellor further noted that the pivotal role of education in national development and the dearth of teachers in both the primary and secondary schools across the country, accentuated the need to bring education closer.

Oke said that LASU had been for sometime now the university of first choice to students.

“Your choice of LASU is the best decision any students will want to take, because we have a good learning ambience, respectable and committed academics and learner friendly non-academic staff,” he said.
