LASPOTECH matriculates 2,000 students for 2020/2021 academic session
The Management of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu, on Friday matriculated no fewer than 2,000 students for the 2020/2021 academic session.
Dr Oluremi Olaleye, Rector, LASPOTECH Ikorodu, urged the matriculating students to focus on their academic excellence and development of their character in the institution.
Olaleye, the 11th Rector of LASPOTECH, gave the advice at the matriculation ceremony of the various schools of full-time of the institution in Lagos.
It was reported that more than 2,000 students were formally admitted into full-time studies in the institution at the event.
He said that the students should always remember that their primary aim of being in this school was for academic excellence.
“I therefore advise you to settle down for serious academic work to ensure successful completion of your respective programmes within the stipulated period.
“I enjoin you to abide by the provisions of the matriculation oath you have sworn today so that you can fulfil your aim of coming to this polytechnic of excellence.
“As a cardinal agenda of this administration, students’ academic welfare is our primary concern.
“Our administration is committed to ensuring that the environment is conducive for you to learn and come out in flying colours,” Olaleye said.
He added that to actualise maximum security of lives and property on all the campuses, a standing security committee had been constituted to tackle all security issues.
“I, however, enjoin us all to be security conscious and be our brother’s keeper as security is everybody’s business.
“Students should note that the management has zero tolerance for cultism and other anti-social vices like hooliganism, extortion.
“The penalty for involvement in any of these vices is outright dismissal from the polytechnic,” Olaleye said.
