Church best platform for correction of societal ills – NCPC boss
Rev. Yakubu Pam, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), has said that the Church was the best platform for the correction of societal ills.
“The Church is in a better position to correct the wrongs in the society. We can do this if we get things right,” Pam said on Sunday at a fund raising service for the completion of the Sunday school building of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Gigiring, Jos.
The NCPC boss, who was the Chairman of the occasion, called on the Church to get things right and join hands with the government to move the nation forward.
He said that constructive criticism from the Church would right the many wrongs in the society.
“The Church, at this trying time of the nation’s history, should not just stand aloof; it should speak out constructively to make the difference,” he said.
Pam emphasised that the task of saving the country from its security challenges and social maladies should begin from the immediate environment, which is the Church.
He urged the Church to shun ethnicity, religious intolerance and division on the bases of denomination.
“The Church should, rather, strive to keep the unity of the body of Christ and protect the interest of the faith,” he declared.
He called on Nigerians to look up to God and pray ceaselessly to Him since He is the only solution to the myriad of challenges confronting Nigeria.
