Rep. Yusuf Gagdi (APC-Plateau) has donated rams, bags of rice worth N30 million to his constituents for the Eid-el-kabir celebration.

Gagdi, representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau, donated the items on Monday in Dengi, Kanam Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the gesture was aimed at giving his constituents, particularly the less privileged, a sense of belonging during the festivity.

He said that the gesture was an expression of his passion and fulfilment of God’s will, adding that he gets satisfaction from carrying out such act of charity.

“This is something that has become part of me; I have been doing this even before I become a lawmaker.

“I find pleasure and satisfaction in providing for the needy particularly in times of festivity like this.

“No religious book condemns providing for the needy or those who put you in position of leadership.

“So, it is naturally fine and good that I do things that gives me satisfaction and also attracts the blessing of God.

“In all, we have spent over N30 million to provide these items. We spent over N17 million to provide rams and some cash donations to different groups.

“And the trailer load of rice we have distributed also cost us over N13 million,” he said.

Gagdi said that the items were distributed devoid of party or ethnic affiliations.

“None of these items donated today is either my constituency project or saving from any goverment patronage.

“These are proceeds from my personal businesses and I’m doing this so that my people will be happy,” he added.
