A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 24-year-old mechanic, Hassan Liman, in a correctional centre pending issuance of legal advice.

Liman, a resident of Hayin Bakin Kawo, Kaduna, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, refused to grant bail to Liman as applied but asked the court to remand him in a correctional centre.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until Aug. 25, for ruling on the bail application.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 29 at about 1.01 p.m. at Ibadan Road, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.

Leo said Liman and two others now at large stole a red Bajaj motorcycle with Reg. No: GGE 768 QJ, Chassis No: MG2A17AY1WNL20255 and Engine No: DUZWJL 22346, valued at N275,000, belonging to Mohammed Garba.

He said the offences contravened the provision of sections 217 and 59 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
