A security guard, Matthew Daniel, was on Thursday docked in a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, for allegedly stealing household items worth N350,000.

The police charged Daniel, 32, of Kuruduma II, Asokoro, Abuja with criminal trespass and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Osho Olanrewaju told the court that between July 10 and Aug. 6 the defendant criminally trespassed into the complainant, Okegbola Oluwale’s house and stole household items worth N350,000.

He said the defendant stole 12.5 kg gas cylinder, one tiger generator, three cooking pots, two spoons, one big generator, and 16 buckets of empty rubber paints.

Olanrewaju said the offence contravened the provisions of section 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Mr Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.

Maiwada said the sureties address must be verified by the court registrar.

He adjourned the case until Oct. 28 for mention.
