Two men, who allegedly stole their employer’s cable worth N85,000, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge.

The defendants are Chinedu Chinna, 37, and Mufutau Kolade, 54, residents of 83, Moradeyo St., Festac Town, Lagos, and 6, Ologundudu St., Aboru, Ipaja, Lagos, respectively.

They are standing trial for conspiracy and stealing.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Racheal Williams, the defendants stole the cable from Laralek Ultimate Company Ltd. located at 18, Falodun St., Dopemu, Lagos.

Williams submitted that the duo stole the cable on Sept. 29 at company’s premises.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendants were caught with the cable by the company’s security guards.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr T. O. Fashanu, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Fashanu adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for trial.
