A PDP chairmanship candidate in Lagos State, Dr Adetokunbo Pearse, on Tuesday promised to set up N1 billion fund to build a state secretariat for the party if elected at the Oct. 16 congress.

Pearse, a University of Lagos lecturer, made the pledge in an interview with our reporter in Lagos.

He said: “It sounds unbelievable but the party does not own a state secretariat in Lagos.

“I will make PDP members throughout the state proud by setting up a N1 billion building fund for the purpose of purchasing or building our own state secretariat.”

It was reported that the main opposition party does not have its own permanent secretariat in Lagos but currently using a rented one at the Ikeja GRA.

Pearse added that efforts would be concentrated on bringing stakeholders to the table to foster unity and chart a united front in the state.

The aspirant said that if elected Lagos State PDP Chairman, divisions and infighting that had cost the party so much would be a thing of the past.

Pearse, a former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, said that he would bring back party activities and build the party from ward levels.
