Eid-el-Maulud: Minister tasks Nigerians on resilience, selflessness
The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Dingyadi, has called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of faith, resilience, selflessness and renewed commitment to tolerance and peaceful coexistence at Eid-el-Maulud.
The Press Secretary to the Minister, Mr Osaigbovo Ehisienmen, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
The minister called for greater collaboration between citizens and security forces, especially the Nigeria Police to sustain the successes recorded against criminals in parts of the country.
He pledged the commitment of the Federal Government to bridge the manpower gaps in the Nigeria Police, through systematic recruitment of credible young Nigerians into the force in batches of 10,000.
The minister said the idea was to actualise the 40,000 additional manpower into the Nigeria Police as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the Federal Government was committed to deepening the welfare and operational capability of the Nigeria Police through robust welfare package and interventions by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund.
Dingyadi urged Nigerians to support governments’ efforts at strengthening peace and security nationwide.
The minister felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, a celebration to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
