2 die, 1 injured in Niger auto crash
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Niger Sector Command, said two person died in an accident that occurred on Kutigi-Mokwa road on Sunday.
Mr Musa Mohammed, the state Sector Commander, who confirmed the incident to our reporter in Minna on Sunday, said that one person sustained injuries in the crash.
He said the accident, which occurred at about 1345 hours at Edati village, involved a Dangote truck with registration number DT/5387CH, and an unmarked Daf truck belonging to NNPC.
“Three people were involved in the mishap; two were burnt to death and one sustained injuries,” he said.
He explained that the vehicles were still on fire and that FRSC officials, the police and personnel of other sister agencies were on ground to control the situation.
The sector commander blamed the accident on fatigue and loss of control.
He advised motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to speed limits to avoid crashes.
The road safety boss said that the corps would continue to monitor road users to guard against dangerous driving.
