2021 Greater Lagos Fiesta unifying platform to promote entertainment – Organisers
Organisers of the 2021 Greater Lagos Fiesta themed “Lagos Rocks” on Monday said that the event is a unifying platform to promote entertainment in the state.
According to a statement signed by the organising committee, the Greater Lagos Fiesta 2021 brand would also reflate the economy.
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on Friday, Oct. 29 unveiled the 2021 edition where he noted that the event will help the state’s recovery efforts after the devastations of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Israel Jaiye Opayemi, Chairman, Marketing Communications Sub-Committee for the Fiesta said in the statement that most people are looking forward to Fiesta which didn’t hold in 2020.
He noted its evolution from ‘Lagos Countdown’ to ‘Greater Lagos Fiesta’ and how despite the changes in its name, its purpose remains to serve as a unifying platform to promote entertainment, Commerce, Arts and Culture.
Opayemi, the Managing Director/Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions also said that Lagos Fiesta 2021 is a celebration of “The Resilience of our Spirit in the Fight Against an Unseen Enemy Called Covid.”
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Pharmacist Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, also said in the statement that the government will be using the Greater Lagos Fiesta to further transform Lagos into a major African tourism and entertainment hub.
She disclosed that only vaccinated persons against COVID-19 will be allowed into the Fiesta’s venues and assured adequate security and emergency services
Our correspondent reports that the 2021 Lagos Fiesta will kickoff on Dec.1 with an opening ceremony at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
The organisers added that a cycling competition will hold on Dec. 5, while the photography and fashion contests will hold on Dec. 7 and 10.
“The Christmas Souk Village featuring children’s corner, book exhibition, food, fashion and Santa’s Grotto will open in Lagos’ five divisions of Ikorodu, Ikeja, Badagry, Lagos Island and Epe on December 18,” the statement read.
