We’re ahead of other parties in Anambra poll, says ADP National Chairman
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) says it is ahead of other political parties in the upcoming Anambra governorship poll because of its “ingenious election strategy”.
Mr Sani Yabaji, the party’s National Chairman, said this on Monday at the launch of the party’s campaign in Abuja.
Yabaji said the ingenious strategy had helped to give the party several leaps ahead of other political parties in the race to the Anambra Government House.
“The ADP, very early in the day, embarked on a campaign strategy, which has proved very effective and without endangering the safety and security of our members, our teeming supporters and the general public.
“Our strategy, fashioned and spearheaded by the party’s flag bearer, Afam Uwe-Ezeoke, and his team, is the painstaking option of interpersonal contacts and door-to-door campaign.
“We thank and commend our candidate for bringing up this ingenious strategy.
“Through that unique mode of campaign, tens of thousands of Anambra people have registered with us and are now card-carrying and financial members of the ADP.
“A greater multitude of the electorate have been mobilised and convinced to buy into the philosophy and programmes of our great party, believing in our candidate as the most credible alternative in the election,” Yabaji said.
According to him, from 1999 to date, the leadership of Anambra has rotated among PDP, APGA and APC without any positive development on ground.
He said the tradition was about to change because the people of Anambra had become wiser.
He said the people had resolved to wrestle themselves from the shackles that had held down their progress and prosperity.
“The people of Anambra have decided to break away from the bondage and guarantee a happy future for generations yet unborn.
“Anambra will be great, much greater, with ADP taking its rightful place as the leading light and beacon of hope for the good people of Anambra with a patriotic, altruistic, focused and honest leadership,” he said.
Yabaji urged Uwe-Ezeoke to be mindful of his campaign promises and ensure that he delivered on all assurances given to the people.
“You have fought a gallant war through a grueling campaign that you have undertaken and from the look of all indices, God Almighty has decided to crown your efforts with success.
“I just need to tell you that to whom much is given, much is expected from.
“And as you are poised to take over the mantle of leadership, you should be mindful of your electoral promises that have earned you the people’s confidence.
“There is a silent but yet powerful sacred pact between you and the people that you must always remember and strive to fulfill when victory is won,” he said.
In a speech, the party’s standard bearer said he was confident in himself and his party.
“I’m not afraid of anybody or any other political party in the election,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious at the polls.
Uwe-Ezeoke promised to deliver on all his campaign promises, if elected.
He further promised to ensure the peaceful conduct of his party members and supporters at the polls.
