Ugwuanyi visits accident survivors in hospital

Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has visited survivors of Thursday’s auto crash, which occurred at Nza Street, Independence Layout, Enugu.

Our correspondent learnt that some lives were lost in the accident, which involved a truck and some tricycles.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Media Aide, Mr Louis Amoke, the governor moved to the scene upon receiving the news of the unfortunate incident for immediate intervention.

The statement further explained that Ugwuanyi, accompanied by his deputy, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, thereafter proceeded to Posh Hospital, New Haven, Enugu where the survivors were receiving treatment.

“There, he sympathised with them and assured them that they would be given adequate medical attention.

“He pledged to pay their medical bills and consequently made fund available to the hospital management to ensure the patients were properly treated without any hindrance,” the statement added.

He was said to have also condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.

“He thanked those who rescued and took the survivors to hospital, describing them as Good Samaritans,” the statement added.
