Miners association announces death of National President
The National Executive Council of Miners Association of Nigeria, has announced the death of its National President, Alhaji Kabiru Kankara.
Mr Dele Ayanleke, the National Secretary of the Association disclosed this to our correspondent on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ayanleke said that Kankara, 65:years died on Nov. 9, after a brief illness and his remains had since been committed to the Mother Earth in Kaduna State in accordance with Islamic.
He said that fidau prayers would be communicated as scheduled by his family.
Kankara hailed from Kankara town of Katsina State, he is a graduate of Business Administration from Bayero University, Kano State.
He had over 30 years experience in public service before embarking on business.
He was a seasoned administrator, public servant and businessman.
He was aworked in the Federal Ministry of Finance where he worked under the Nigerian Customs Service and rose to the rank of Comptroller of Customs.
Immediately after his retirement, Kankara embarked on business ventures in trading, mining and industries.
Until his passage, Kankara was the Chairman of National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mining and Agriculture, ( NACCIMA), Mining Trade Group, the President of Miners Association of Nigeria and Vice Chairman of ECOWAS Chambers of Mines.
Our correspondent recalls that Kankara recently briefed newsmen on the forthcoming 6th edition of the Nigeria Mining Week scheduled to hold on Nov. 16 to Nov.17, with the theme: “Seven reasons to invest in Nigerian mining”
