An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the remand of five men, who allegedly inflicted injuries on a man and robbed him of N77,000 valuables.

The defendants are: Adisa Ajisola, 19, Ebube Nwangi, 19, Ayantolu Alabi, 20, Abiodun Adio, 20 and Wahab Odibo, 21.

Magistrate S.K Matepo, who did not take the defendants’ pleas, ordered that they should be remanded in Kirikri Correctional Centre.

Matepo, however, directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

She adjourned the case until Dec.1 for DPP’s advice.

The police charged the defendants with a three-count of conspiracy, causing grievous harm and robbery.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Oct. 15, Kano Street, Ebute-Meta, Lagos State.

He said the defendants, who were armed with dangerous weapons, caused grievous harm to Mr Rasaki Adisa and robbed him of his phone and cash.

“The defendants attacked the complainant with cutlasses, bottles, iron rod among other weapons and inflicting deep cuts all over his body.

“They further robbed him of his phone valued at N40,000 and cash of N37,000, total N77,000.

“The defendants were apprehended and taken to the station,” the prosecutor said.

The alleged offences violate Sections 245, 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
