Buni promises timely supply of inputs to Yobe farmers
Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has assured crop and livestock farmers of timely provision of farm inputs and extension services to encourage them to boost their productivity.
Buni gave the assurance while declaring the 9th Annual Conference of Nigeria Women in Agricultural Research for Development (NIWARD) on Tuesday in Damaturu.
Buni represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana said his administration was vigorously pursuing agricultural revitalisation through a steering committee under the chairmanship of Dr Mairo Ahmad Amshi, the Commissioner for Agricultural and Natural Resources.
He said the committee was working tirelessly towards achieving agricultural transformation for enhance productivity, employment generation and self-reliance.
The governor commended the organisers of the conference for their deep thinking in choosing the right theme for the conference.
In her remarks, Amshi, said the conference with the theme: “Food Security, Nutrition, and Sustainable Agriculture,” would go a long way towards achieving agricultural transformation.
Amshi said that NIWARD was empowering and building women and their communities to fight hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
Also speaking, Alhaji Baba Malan-Wali, Chairman of the occasion and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) lauded NIWARD for its determination to move agriculture forward in the country.
