A 41-year-old man, Tiamiyu Saheed, who allegedly threatened a woman with a cutlass, was on Tuesday docked at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

The police charged Saheed with threat to life.

The defendant, who has no fixed address, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 31 at 9.00 p.m. at No. 12 Izibill St., off God First, Itele, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant threatened Mrs Morufat Tiamiyu with cutlass and sent series of text messages to threaten her life.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 89 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 27 for further hearing.
